The next person that I want to recognize and honor for the blessing that they have been in my life is one of all time best friends, Patrick Brown. Patrick and I have been friends since college. We would hang out at his apartment and play Halo 2 for much of the night before beginning our massive research papers which were due the next morning. Don’t worry, we never turned in a late paper, although we did miss an entire night of sleep from time to time. Patrick came on staff at Suncoast Baptist Church in 2010 and during that time, he has added so much to my life.
If the Rexrodes are the servants, and Mike DuPriest is the “I’ve got your back” man, then Patrick Brown is the friend that is ALWAYS AVAILABLE for an adventure. It seems like so many people in the world are “No” people. What I mean by that is, no matter what you ask, or when you ask it, their answer is always “no.” “No” people never have the time or availability to spend time with you. “No” people doubt whether or not things can be done or accomplished. “No” people are not spontaneous. My best friend Patrick Brown is in no way a “NO” person. I would have said that every person needs a “Yes” person in their life if it didn’t seem to have a negative connotation. The truth is, there is nothing at all negative about having a friend who is always available, always willing to spend time with you, always quick to believe that you can accomplish great things, and always ready for an adventure.
Patrick has been a perfect picture of a friend that is always ready for an adventure! Whether I just want to run to RaceTrack Gas Station to get an icee, or whether I invite him to meet me on the other side of the country for a few days (He just purchased a flight to LA to spend three days at a pastors conference with me in September), Patrick always does anything he can to say “Yes” instead of saying “No.” There have been countless times when I have been in a bind and each time, without hesitation, Patrick is there to help. Patrick has been the source of many fun memories in my life. Some of our adventures were his idea and I nervously agreed to participate. Others, I came up with and he always responded with a passionate “yes.” Here are some of the great adventures we have gone on together!
*Drove All Night To Be In My Wedding
* Jet Skiing around Boca Grande
* Hiked to South Carolina from Brevard, NC.
* Breaking Down in the Charlotte Harbor in His Boat
* Awesome Family Picnics
* More Disc Golf that You Can Imagine
*Did some Crazy Juicing Experiments! (DO NOT JUICE ALOE!)
* Late Night Visits to Kill Zombies.
* Bungee Jumping off the Skyway Bridge (Just kidding, but if I would have asked, he would have considered it!)
And these are just the things we are allowed to put on the internet! I am thankful for a friend like Patrick Brown. He is one of the people that I am not only begging God that I will always have someone like him in my life, but I would just rather it go ahead and be him, in the flesh! I want to be like him in many ways, especially when it comes to his zeal for life and his all systems go availability for his friends. It is awesome to have a friend who is always ready for an adventure, someone who adds many great memories and lots of fun to your life. For me, that person is Patrick Brown! Love you man!
